This is true weather an ONLINE or OFFLINE alter is used. Any issuance of LOCK TABLES is local only to the SQL node running that statement. However, With the changes to support discovery of CREATE DATABASE in MySQL Cluster NDB 6.2.16 and MySQL Cluster NDB 6.3.18 a global schema lock was introduced which locks tables across all SQL nodes against other DDL operations while any DDL are in progress in the cluster.Matthew Montgomeryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04421029174237420523noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3436373518787509996.post-66063771324091587962014-04-28T18:50:41.380-05:002014-04-28T18:50:41.380-05:00This comment has been removed by the author.Matthew Montgomeryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04421029174237420523noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3436373518787509996.post-43671429264932266882010-06-01T12:51:36.772-05:002010-06-01T12:51:36.772-05:00Good point hingo, I just never felt comfortable su...Good point hingo, I just never felt comfortable suggesting using "GA" versions of cluster that were based upon non-GA 5.1 versions. The documentation does show some of these limitations as being resolved in 5.1 and not later 6.x/7.x releases.Matthew Montgomeryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04421029174237420523noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3436373518787509996.post-43967358560215152272010-05-31T04:15:46.548-05:002010-05-31T04:15:46.548-05:00It should also probably be noted that Anirudh'...It should also probably be noted that Anirudh's text was plagiarised from the book "MySQL Clustering" by Alex Davies and Harrison Fisk. At the time they published this (2006) the text was true. A lot changes in 4 years.<br /><br />I wonder if any copyright lawyers are reading.LinuxJedihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03203602815866231586noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3436373518787509996.post-19103613558602268712010-05-31T03:10:26.540-05:002010-05-31T03:10:26.540-05:00Good to see your rebuttal here as Anirudh's po...Good to see your rebuttal here as Anirudh's post contains some seriously misleading limitation.Khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07363935341994579145noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3436373518787509996.post-17574640575631850512010-05-31T03:07:46.245-05:002010-05-31T03:07:46.245-05:00This comment has been removed by the author.Khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07363935341994579145noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3436373518787509996.post-78969256574550112112010-05-31T02:55:48.603-05:002010-05-31T02:55:48.603-05:00Good rebuttal. For NDB, 5.1 was never a GA release, the numbering in GA releases jumped from 5.0.x to 6.2.5 in Sep 2007, so much more than one and a half year ago. (This release contains what you here reference as being in 5.1.) The MySQL 5.1 release date was rather irrelevant for MySQL Cluster.hingohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09201666166374161923noreply@blogger.com
